01 / Overview

Invisible Grills Explained

Invisible grills are thin stainless steel cables fixed into an aluminium track across a balcony, window or staircase. They guard against falls and keep the view, the light and the breeze. Good installers use SS304 cable inland and SS316 near the sea, with a clear nylon coating.

02 / Uses

Where They Fit Best

01Apartment balconies and utility areas
02Full-height French windows and sliding windows
03Open staircases, duplex edges and atriums
04Office terraces and open corridors
03 / Materials

Materials to Ask For

AISI 316 Marine-Grade Core

High-tensile 316-grade austenitic stainless steel wire rope (7x7 / 7x19 construction) offering high corrosion resistance even in high-humidity and coastal environments.

Clear Nylon-12 Coating

A UV-stabilised coating that protects the steel and is smooth to touch.

6063-T6 Extruded Aluminum Track

Structural extruded aluminum top and bottom channel profile with anodized or powder-coated finish matching your facade palette.

04 / Fitting

How They Are Fitted

Site Measurement

The installer measures every opening at your home and checks the walls, slab and railing. The track is cut to size with even cable spacing: usually 2 inches for children and 3 inches for standard openings.

Fixing and Tensioning

The aluminium track is drilled into the concrete slab or brickwork with stainless steel anchors. Each cable is threaded through, tightened and locked, then checked with you at handover.

05 / Care

Care and Safety Limits

Care & Cleaning

Clean every 3 to 6 months using a soft microfiber cloth dampened with clean freshwater and mild neutral soap. Avoid abrasive scouring pads, hydrochloric acid, or harsh tile cleaners. For coastal residences, monthly freshwater wiping preserves the clear luster of the polymer sheath.

Limits and Fire Exit

Invisible grills are engineered primarily as fall-prevention barriers and child safety systems; they are not intended to withstand automotive vehicular impacts or replace structural load-bearing balustrades. In case of emergency fire evacuation, cables can be severed rapidly with standard handheld wire cutters.

06 / Questions

Invisible Grills FAQs

Yes. Iron grills need a grinder to cut, but steel cables can be cut in seconds with a heavy-duty hand wire cutter, so there is a way out in an emergency.
