Know What Your Grills Are Made Of

The materials a good installer should use, and what to ask for in writing.

AISI 316 Stainless Steel

Good invisible grills use AISI 316 marine-grade stainless steel cable. Its 2% to 3% molybdenum resists salt and rust far better than standard SS304.

Choose SS316 near the sea and in very humid cities. SS304 suits most inland homes.

Nylon-12 Coating

A clear Nylon-12 coating covers the steel. It resists chemicals, takes in little moisture and stays stable in strong sun, so the cable does not fray and is smooth to touch.

6063-T6 Aluminium Track

The track is extruded from 6063-T6 aluminium, then anodised or powder-coated. It holds the tension locks neatly against the wall with no raw screw heads showing.

Virgin HDPE for Safety Nets

Good safety nets use virgin HDPE with UV absorbers added at the factory. Double knots at every joint stop strands slipping under impact and keep the net strong in hot and cold seasons.
